The Herbal Medic Clinic

The Herbal Medic Clinic will provide 1:1 herbal medicine consultations online, enabling clients across a wide range of locations to access individualised herbal treatment. The clinic cannot accept bookings while I complete my training; however, this page outlines what to expect once the clinic launches.

I am undertaking a four-year, degree-level programme in herbal medicine to qualify as a Herbal Medicine Practitioner. My training includes in-depth study of Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacognosy, Materia Medica and Botany, Chemistry and Phytochemistry, and Pathology, along with supervised clinical hours at Betonica and at external teaching clinics.

Upon graduation, I will open The Herbal Medic Clinic, with bookings available here, to provide comprehensive case-taking and individualised treatment plans, offering evidence-informed holistic support to people seeking professional advice on their health. Consultations will be structured, clinically focused and tailored to the individual, and are designed to complement appropriate medical care, with careful attention to safety, potential herb–drug interactions, and your existing diagnoses and medications. I have particular interests in supporting people with chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, in women’s health, and in those who are physically active or engaged in regular training who wish to use herbal medicine and nutritional supplementation to support performance, recovery and long-term health, but the clinic will remain open to a wide range of other concerns.

  • Herbal treatment plans may include one or more of the following preparation types, selected according to your presentation, preferences and any safety considerations:

    • Individually formulated tincture blends

    • Teas and infusions for internal use

    • Powders or capsules where appropriate

    • Topical preparations, such as creams, oils or balms

Herbal prescriptions will be tailored to the individual and prepared using quality-assured herbs from reputable suppliers. Doses, combinations and duration of use are determined on a case-by-case basis, with careful attention to potential herb–drug interactions, contraindications and your wider clinical picture. Where needed, alcohol-free or alternative formats can be discussed and used where appropriate.

  • Yes. When the clinic opens, diet and lifestyle will be an integral part of every consultation. Herbal medicines are only one part of the picture – how you eat, move, sleep and recover all have a significant impact on overall health, fitness and the body’s ability to heal and adapt.

During your appointment we may discuss areas such as meal patterns, hydration, sleep quality, stress load, physical activity and rest. Any suggestions will be practical and individualised, taking into account your medical history, capacity, preferences and existing advice from other professionals.

I do not replace the role of your GP, dietitian or other specialists, but I can help you explore realistic changes that support your herbal treatment plan and your longer-term health goals, and encourage you to seek additional input where that would be beneficial.

  • When the clinic opens, your information will be treated as confidential clinical data. During your consultation I will take a detailed case history, including medical background, current medications and any relevant reports or test results you choose to share. These records will be stored securely in line with data protection requirements and used solely for the purpose of providing herbal care and monitoring your progress.

I will not share your details with third parties without your explicit consent, except where there is a legal or serious safeguarding obligation to do so. You are welcome to ask how your information is stored and used at any time, and you may request a copy or correction of your records in line with applicable data protection legislation.

  • Exact fees will be confirmed closer to clinic opening and will be clearly displayed before you book. In general, there will be a separate fee for the consultation itself and for any herbal medicines supplied, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

The cost of herbal prescriptions will depend on the ingredients used, the volume, and how long the prescription is intended to last. All costs will be discussed with you in advance, and you will always have the opportunity to ask questions, choose between options where appropriate, or decline a prescription if it does not fit your needs or budget. There will be no hidden or unexpected charges.

  • Herbal medicine is usually used in an integrative way, sitting alongside appropriate medical care rather than replacing it. Part of my role is to understand your diagnoses, investigations and current medications so that any herbal plan is designed with your wider clinical picture in mind, and to avoid harmful interactions or unsafe combinations.

Over time, if your health improves and it seems appropriate to review certain medicines, we can discuss this and I may encourage you to speak with your GP or prescribing clinician about whether doses or medications can be safely adjusted. Any changes to prescribed drugs should always be made in discussion with the prescriber, and I will not advise you to stop medication on your own or ignore medical advice.

  • Herbal medicine is often a good fit for people who feel they’ve tried a lot of other approaches but still aren’t where they want to be, or who feel rushed, unheard or stuck in the current system and want to explore something more holistic alongside their existing care.

Some people come because they want a more in-depth look at how everything fits together, symptoms, history, medications, stress, sleep, diet and training, rather than each issue being treated in isolation. If that resonates with you, or you’re simply ready to try a different, more thorough approach, you’re in the right place.
