Blackberry & Sage Sangria

Alcoholic Version
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
1 bottle red wine (a fruity Rioja or Shiraz works well)
100ml blackberry liqueur or crème de cassis (optional for depth)
1 small handful fresh sage leaves (lightly bruised)
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
150g fresh blackberries
1–2 tbsp honey or sage syrup (to taste)
200ml soda water or sparkling water (to top up)
Ice to serve
Method
In a large jug or pitcher, combine wine, fruit, sage, and syrup.
Stir well and chill for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
Just before serving, add soda water and ice.
Serve in glasses with some fruit and a sage leaf garnish.
Non-Alcoholic Version
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
400ml red grape juice
300ml blackberry juice or blueberry juice
1–2 tbsp honey or sage syrup
1 orange and 1 lemon, sliced
150g fresh blackberries
Small handful of fresh sage leaves (lightly bruised)
200ml soda or sparkling water
Ice to serve
Method
Same as above: mix everything in a jug, chill, top with soda and ice before serving.
